Our Kirk Night ministry starts Wednesday, September 14. We are looking forward to another great year of Christian fellowship, small groups, music, and great food! In order to have any of these things, though, we need dependable volunteers from the church. We need at least 20 volunteers for each Kirk Night dinner, and we hope that you will prayerfully consider serving Christ as a volunteer on Wednesday night.
Here are some of the ways you can be a part of this ministry:
The Kitchen Crew begins their work at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. They prepare the salad bar, chop vegetables, make desserts, prepare meats, cook sides, and replenish the serving line as needed. They also wash pots, pans, and dishes.
The only skills you need to serve on the Kitchen Crew are a love of food and taking joy in its preparation. You do not even need to know how to cook! John Jenkins and others will gladly teach you how. It is rewarding to cook a great meal at church then be able to cook the same menu for your family or next dinner party.
Beverage & Set Up Crew
This crew begins their work at 3:00 p.m. They make coffee, tea, and other beverages and set up tables in the fellowship hall for drinks, ice, desserts, and salad bar. They also set up the serving line with the required number of chafing dishes as needed for the meal, and make sure serving trays, plates, and glasses are available along with knives, spoons, and forks.
This crew begins their work at 4:30 p.m. The cleanup crew consists of people stationed in the Fellowship Hall who collect trays and dishes when someone finishes eating. They also bring dishes to the pre-wash line where other members of this crew wash, dry, and restage dishes for the following week.
This crew requires the most volunteers, and crewmembers should be able to stand for approximately 90 minutes, lift items weighing less than 15 lbs., and be willing to scrape leftover food from plates.
Servers are selected each week from the pool of available volunteers. Each server is responsible for one station, including kids’ items and vegetarian selections.
Kirk Night crew volunteers experience a feeling of service to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who often ministered to others using food. They also get to work with other committed Christians from our church. Finally, the Kirk Night crew shares a meal together before the serving line opens, taking the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their labor and good fellowship around the table.
Kirk Night does not just happen. It takes dedicated volunteers to make it happen. Without your help, this ministry would disappear and with it, the opportunity for fellowship, Bible study, music preparation, and the opportunity to participate in God’s love as a community of faith.
If you are interested in volunteering for the Kirk Crew, please contact John Jenkins at 843-838-4315 (home), 843-812-2781 (cell), or click here to email John. There will be more information and signup sheets at our Kick Off Sunday, September 4. John will be at each Wee Kirk Night in August for questions you might have. May God continue to bless you and bless our Wednesday Kirk Night.
