Many Hands, Many Hearts, One Community of Faith

Many Hands, Many Hearts, One Community of Faith

April 23, 2017

Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

From today’s gospel lesson we learn that in a post-resurrection appearance Jesus said to his disciples, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”

Speaking to the elders from the church in Ephesus the Apostle Paul offered a personal word about how one lives and shares the gospel, “Through the work of my own hands, I have given you an example that by such work we must support the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, for he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than receive.” (Acts 20:34-35)

To the members and friends of the Sea Island Presbyterian Church, on this 2nd Sunday of Easter we begin a four week season to ponder the grace and discipline of stewardship in terms of the time, talent, and money we dedicate to the ministry of Jesus Christ through the work of this community of faith and its many hands and many hearts. This season of reflection and prayer will conclude on Sunday, May 21, when we will have the opportunity to share our commitment for 2017-18. This is the same Sunday we will gather for our Spring Picnic, this year on our church campus, with a full meal in the Fellowship Hall and water slides and other games on the church site. Please remember to bring a lounge chair and a swim suit, and dress casually for worship.

As we approach Stewardship Sunday, we ask that you prayerfully consider the information coming your way. Like the disciples, Paul and the early Christians, may we continue to be known throughout the Beaufort community and the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery as a community of faith that is engaged with the world around us, that we are blessed when we give and share.

In Christ,

Your Stewardship Committee
