Kirk Night Groups

Following dinner on Wednesday nights, groups of adults meet to study topics that are relevant to their faith journey. All groups begin at 6:30pm and last 45 minutes to one hour. The course offerings vary each season (fall/spring). This fall, groups include:

Exploring Christian Faith

Using the book A Faith of Your Own by Ronald J. Allen, this class will be studying multiple ways of understanding God, Christ, the Holy Spirit and other key elements of Christian Faith and how these various interpretations fit within the Presbyterian/Reformed tradition. The book will be available for purchase on the first night of class for $13 each.

  • East Room
  • Led by Clara Partridge

The Gospel of John

This class will read through the Gospel of John one section at a time and explore its rich themes of grace, love, darkness & light, good & evil, and its reflections on the person of Jesus. Class sessions will include input from the leaders followed by directed discussions. The only required text is the Gospel of John as found in your favorite Bible!

  • Fellowship Hall, Room 3/4
  • Led by John Sheppard and David Rockwell

Living A Life of Worship

Christian worship is guided by a pathway designed by the Lord Himself to insure that believers can make their way safely into His presence. This study invites worshipers to consider 4 biblical steps into the presence of God: thanksgiving, praise, worship, and glory—steps that can be used in corporate worship and personal life.

  • Education Building, Room 301
  • Led by Bill and Wendi Duggan

Parenting Beyond Your Capacity

This isn’t a self-help group, it’s a get-help group! Parents of infants through teens are invited to come and offer support to one another while learning to build a culture of unconditional love, focus on what matters most, communicate well, and create a rhythm of quality time. The book of the same title by Reggie Joiner will be available at the first class for $10 each.

  • Fellowship Hall, Room 1/2
  • Led by Jerry and Jodie Linn

Headline News

There are many topics and issues in the news that compete for our attention and energy, but few news sources help us think about these issues from the perspective of faith in Jesus Christ. In this informal discussion group, participants are invited to bring printed stories from the newspaper, news magazines, or internet news sites to share with the group. The group will review the stories and discuss together how people of faith might think about those issues and then respond with action in our personal lives, our community, or our world.

  • Led by Barbara Thomas
