First Connections Seminar
What: First Connections is a seminar provided for seekers, agnostics, unbelievers, and pilgrims looking for a spiritual home.
Why: The good news of the Gospel reminds us that it is important to be connected: to God, to each other, to neighbors, to the world. We were born to enjoy the grace of family and to experience the fellowship of community. Placing one’s feet down in a particular spot and calling that home has some rather significant advantages. It might interest you to know that during the three years of his ministry, Jesus enjoyed his home in Capernaum. It was in this town on the Sea of Galilee that Jesus always returned to rest, to be with friends, and to worship.
Format: Supper will be served in the Fellowship Hall at 5:30pm. Afterwards, you will be introduced to some of the basics associated with the spiritual journey of following Jesus Christ within the Reformed tradition. You will receive a brief overview of the history, beliefs, worship and sacraments of the Presbyterian Church USA and how the Sea Island Presbyterian Church relates to other church families within the Body of Christ that stretches around the world. You will be able to probe and explore, ponder and ask questions.
How: Think about it. Come and See. You might discover something you have been looking for. To register, call the church office at 525-0696 or email Pastor Steve Keeler or contact Jennifer Tuckwiller, Elder at 521-1635 or by email. Child care will be provided.
Venue: Pastor's Study
Date: Wednesday, August 31 @ 6:30pm
Salt Shakers Dinner Groups
Groups for 2011/2012 are forming now! Register by May 15!
Not your momma's dinner party! The Salt Shakers program provides evenings of fun, fellowship, and good food at the sponsoring home on a monthly basis. Monthly dates and times are established by the hosts and guests. The listing of program participants is rotated over the seven-month program so that you are able to meet and fellowship with many different members of the congregation. Each month, the host welcomes six guests (singles or couples) for dinner, and each month the host rotates.
Dinners will be held in September - November and January - May. Groups are now forming for the 2011/2012 program year. Got questions? Contact Mark and Dene McCain by phone 843.838.2787 or email.
