Ministries of Care
Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. -- Galatians 6:2
Caring for brothers and sisters in Christ is an important characteristic for followers of Christ. Sea Island Presbyterian’s ministries of mutual care give us an opportunity to share the love of Christ with those who are hurting and to receive Christ’s love when we are hurting ourselves, whether in body, mind, or spirit.
The office of deacon, as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. Deacons are called to minister to those in need, to the sick, the friendless, and any who may be in distress. In addition to caring directly for members in need through prayer, phone calls, and visitation, the Deacons host a Service of Wholeness every two months and organize church-wide potluck suppers.
Stephen Ministers are members of the Church who have been trained to provide Christian Care for those of special need and care, and in times of pain and suffering. Learn more about how to talk to a Stephen Minister or how to become a Stephen minister.
The intercessory prayer team prays daily for those in need. Request prayers for yourself or someone you know, or volunteer to become a part of the intercessory prayer team.
