Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
“Happy are those who consider the poor; the Lord delivers them in the day of trouble.” (Psalm 41:1)
It is a well-known fact that the nation of Haiti is one of the poorest countries in our hemisphere. Through the years, members and friends of the Sea Island Presbyterian Church have participated in numerous mission trips to this struggling part of the world working in areas of construction, education, and medical care.
Greg Bennett is scheduled to visit Haiti next week in order to develop a mushroom farm. In preparation for the trip, Greg has learned that there is a school nearby with no building. As you can imagine, children are in desperate need of supplies. With the understanding that this is an extremely short notice, the purpose of this email is to announce Greg’s trip and to offer those of us who might be able to offer some of the needed supplies. The list is a simple one . . .
Sharpened pencils, notebook paper, marbled composition books, crayons, construction paper, colored pencils, spiral notebooks, and children’s books.
There will be a “trunk” provided in the Narthex on Easter morning for those of us who would like to provide a donation. Greg is willing to pack, transport, and deliver the donations to the school and to the children.
Thank you for your consideration and as we approach Easter morning, may we abide in the joy and wonder of the resurrection.
Peace and Grace,
+ Pastor Steve
