Missions

Jesus lived among and ministered to the poor and outcast members of first century Palestine; likewise, our Christian witness extends beyond the church walls into our families, community, and world. At Sea Island, the Mission Committee and Social Witness and Justice Committee lead the church’s efforts to give our treasures, time, and voice on behalf of those in need that they may know the good news of God’s love. But outreach to the community is not the work of these committees alone. It is the privilege of every follow of Jesus to reach out and care for the people and world around us.

Mission

Christians are called to spread the good news of the Gospel. The Mission Committee facilitates evangelism not only by supporting mission workers in distant lands, but also by supporting local agencies who carry out the gospel among the poor, weak, or marginalized. Mission is the calling of every Christian.

Social Witness and Justice

“The Church is most faithful and obedient when it moves from worship in God’s house to witness in God’s world. Its witness is through both corporate action and personal participation within the arena of conflict and controversy. In serving the world in God’s name, the Church not only reveals God’s grace, but out there may find it for itself.”
