Caring for brothers and sisters in Christ is an important characteristic for followers of Christ. Sea Island Presbyterian’s ministries of mutual care give us an opportunity to share the love of Christ with those who are hurting and to receive Christ’s love when we are hurting ourselves, whether in body, mind, or spirit.

The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. Deacons are called to minister to those in need, to the sick, the friendless, and any who may be in distress. In addition to caring directly for members in need through prayer, phone calls, and visitation, the Deacons host Services of Wholeness and organize church-wide potluck suppers throughout the year.

Meet the Deacons

Stephen Ministry is a Christian Lay Ministry that utilizes members of the Church who have been trained to provide Christian Care for those of special need and care, and in times of pain and suffering. This ecumenical ministry covers the United States and involves over 50 different denominations (Roman Catholic and Protestant). Our congregation at SIPC has a team of over 20 well-trained lay caregivers to work with our pastors in providing caring ministry to people who are hurting. Stephen Ministry is Christ caring for people through people.

The intercessory prayer team prays daily for those in need. Request prayers for yourself or someone you know, or volunteer to become a part of the intercessory prayer team. To submit a prayer request, click the button below.

A meal is a simple sign of Christian friendship that can mean so much to those who are recovering from or enduring illness or grieving the loss of a loved one. The caring co-op prepares meals and casseroles to deliver to members who are in need. To join the caring co-op team, contact June Meeker: 843.838.1452.
