March 3, 2024
Friends,
Greetings. Today, the 3rd Sunday of Lent, Moses receives the Ten Commandments at the top of Mount Sinai, the apostle Paul addresses the wisdom and foolishness of the cross, and we see a part of Jesus that is often overlooked when he takes a whip of cords and chases merchants and money changers from the temple courts and overturns their tables as they go. Does Jesus ever have cause to be upset with us? Hmmm.
Highlights from the below announcements – our children (MADD) and mid-hi youth do not meet this afternoon but return next week on March 10.Our senior high youth meet on the church campus from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.
Our Lenten study continues Wednesday with a 5:30 supper (Katz with the assistance of the Kirk Kitchen Crew is serving his famous Chicken Bowl) followed by small groups gathering in the Christian education wing as the groups continue to make their way through “The Hope of Easter.” The Kirk Choir rehearsal begins at 7:00 pm.
Daylight Savings begins March 10, 2:00 am. We leap ahead one hour!
The 2024 Confirmation/Catechism Class begins March 17 following the second service in the Fellowship Hall. Kay and Steve Keeler, and Clara Partridge will share the course schedule and outline. Confirmands, please bring a brown bag lunch. The church will provide the drinks.
There is also a congregational meeting following both worship services on March 17 for the purpose of receiving a report from our Nominating Committee and electing nominees David LaBonte and Katz Fugino to the Office of Deacon. We will also receive the 2023 Annual Report on the mission, ministry, and work of Sea Island.
Enjoy your afternoon and evening, and may the Lord bless and keep you. +
