THE BEAUFORT WALK FOR WATER is scheduled for Saturday, September 21. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the global water crisis, and help build self-sustaining village water purification units. The walk is symbolic of the approximate 3 mile trek that 2 billion people must make to obtain water (often unsafe water.) The walk will take place at the Live Oaks Park behind the Port Royal Elementary School. Registration begins at 8:00 am and walk begins at 9:00 am. After registration slots are filled, the donation request of $20 for adults and $15 for students aged 16 to 22 years and $5 for youth aged 5 to 15 years.
