Honoring the Legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.
In August 1965, Martin Luther King, Jr. visited the Montreat Conference Center and delivered a keynote speech, “The Church on the Frontier of Racial Tension” at the Christian Action Conference. In the speech, Dr. King addressed civil rights, social injustice, non-violence, and the church’s role, causing some controversy but marking a significant moment in civil rights history.
Christian Sympathy
Zaw Myo Tun, an occasional visitor for Sunday morning worship and our Cold Weather Shelter, a native of Myanmar, entered the Church Triumphant on December 12, 2025.
Thomas “Chad” Clayton, Coates, Jr. brother of Kathy (John) Williams, entered the Church Triumphant on January 13, 2026. Anderson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangement.

Our time together is devoted to considering ways we can apply the teachings of Jesus in daily life, moving beyond mere belief to demonstrating faith through actions like compassion, service, ethical conduct in work and family, and personal transformation, focusing on loving God and neighbor in tangible ways, from prayer to serving the needy and showing forgiveness. Through our study and conversation, we learn that faith should be visible in all aspects of life, not just private moments, transforming how we interact with the world around us.

Diaconate Meeting
Monday, January 26, 6:00 pm
Members of the Diaconate are scheduled to meet a week from Monday when they will review the pastoral care needs of the congregation, receive updates regarding the Network of Care, and address the joys and concerns within our community of faith. Souper Bowl Sunday, February 8
Following a long-standing tradition at Sea Island, youth will be stationed in and around the Narthex with pots for your dollar bill contribution for a non-profit organization TBD. They will also be providing a basic soup for your eating pleasure as we prepare for the Super Bowl game in Santa Clara, CA.
