Welcome

Through the years, the doors of Sea Island have been open to visitors and guests, friends and neighbors, seekers and “nones” (a new category of folks who do not identify with any one faith tradition) in the spirit that all of us are God’s children, and whether we realize it or not, a significant portion of life is devoted to searching for a place we can call our spiritual home.

Sea Island is not a perfect community of faith, but it is a church family of “ragamuffins” that is thankful for its history as a new church development of the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery, and a congregation that is always ready to celebrate the present and embrace the future in the context of God’s grace in Jesus Christ.

Faith Formation Sunday Mornings, 9:30 to 10:20 am
With Bibles on our laps, small groups for children, youth and adults are available on Sunday mornings as we review and discuss several Christian disciplines as we seek to grow and mature in Jesus Christ. Small groups are located in the Christian education wing and the senior pastor’s study.

Sunday Evening for Children and Youth
Wednesday Evening Youth Bible Study
Our elementary age children and mid high youth meet on campus later today at 5:00 pm for an hour and a half packed with good food, water games and a slip and slide. The mid-week Bible Study for mid and senior high youth meets this Wednesday, 7:15 to 8:00 pm in Room 206. Looking ahead, our children are looking forward to the Montreat Worship & Music Conference in June and the Montreat Youth Conference in July. Before we know it, we will find ourselves in the month of August with schools and colleges starting again.

Wednesday (Mid-Week) Study
This Wednesday morning via Zoom we will continue our study of the 12 Disciples with the Scotsman and seminary professor William Barclay. Looking at Scripture references and sources outside the Bible regarding Peter, James & John, and Andrew, we have learned that God can use ordinary people to do some very extraordinary things. We still meet by Zoom (hopefully that will change in the fall) and guests are always welcome. If you would like to join us, even if it’s on a whim, please contact Kay Keeler at 843.812.4206 or kaykeeler52@gmail.com regarding how to access to the Zoom meeting.

Children’s Church
Children’s Church is available for children ages 4 thru 11 and offered at both services. Lessons are provided that parallel the liturgical seasons of the year enabling our children to grow and mature in the Christian faith. Please contact Clara Partridge at 843.252.6199 if you would like to learn more about this ministry and the possibility of serving as an adult leader and volunteer.

Sea Island Sponsored Scholarships for College
Presbyterians have always been strong advocates of education. Several years ago a Sea Island Family established a scholarship fund to support young and aspiring Sea Island students headed to a college or university in the state of South Carolina. Chairperson Kevin Cuppia announces that applications are available in the church office and may be submitted to Trish Wescott’s office by the end of the month.

Presbyterian Women
All women of the church are invited to a covered dish supper on Thursday, May 26,5:30 pm, in the Fellowship Hall. Our speaker for the night will be the popular Rev. Becky Albright, recently Honorably Retired Associate Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Beaufort.

Senior Recognition Sunday
Recent high school graduates Cody Dalrymple, Elora Fu, Emma Grace Dinkins, John Asher Howell, Eillie Seckinger and Mile Spratling; and recent college graduates Kelsey Murrie and Jaco Niemand will be recognized for their academic accomplishment on Sunday, June 5, at the 10:30 am worship service.

Safe Haven After-School Tutoring Ministry
Anyone who might be interested in volunteering one, two, three or four afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00 pm during the 2022-23 school year, please text Kay Keeler at children within a one-mile radius of our church campus.

Social Media Volunteer Recruitment
Instagram, Twitter and Facebook: If those three words mean “fun” to you, the Walk for Water team needs you! You’ll volunteer with our team to help promote this year’s walk by posting info, photos, videos and more to drive participation and thank sponsors. It is a great way to network and gain real-life experience for a high school or college student over the summer. Walk for Water raises awareness and money to fight the global water crisis. All proceeds go to Water Mission, a nonprofit Christian engineering organization based in Charleston that builds safe water and sanitation solutions in developing countries and disaster areas. Interested? Contact Jeanne Reynolds at jandbreynolds@bellsouth.net to learn more.
