Friends,

Thoughts about Sunday Morning

As we watch the tragic conflict in the Middle East, and we pray for peace and prayerfully support all those who work and put themselves in harms way to bring about peace, the Sunday morning liturgy and order of worship hopefully reflects our worshipful and personal response to some of the challenges we all face in today’s human climate filled with so much anger, animosity, and violence. Remember, in the name of Christ, may we never allow a situation or circumstance, another person or group of people turn us into something that we are not. May we always seek to think like Jesus so we can act like Jesus in a way that gives attention to Jesus and the Jesus Way.

Presbyterian Missionary Co-Worker visits Sea Island

Please be aware that the Mission Committee under the leadership of Hugh Gouldthorpe hosted one of our Presbyterian Mission Co-Workers yesterday for an hour visit on our church campus. Jose LaMont Jones, a biochemist and college professor, was accompanied by Charlotte White, a member of First Presbyterian Church, HHI, a nurse practitioner who has also shared her medical gifts along with her husband, a surgeon, on the continent of Africa. “Jose” shared his experience of sharing the good news of Christ as he works alongside colleagues and young people with the focus of developing higher education opportunities for children and teens in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Please remember “Jose” and his family in your prayers. What valuable work!

Witness to the Resurrection and Celebration of Life for Linda Bailey

A Funeral Service in loving memory of Linda Bailey will be conducted Monday morning beginning at 11:00 am in our Sanctuary. “Linda” was one of the remaining charter members of Sea Island, an active member of our Presbyterian Women organization, had prior service on the Board of Deacons, a joyful member of the Sea Island Ringers bell choir, and a member with a big smile of the Wednesday Kirk Night kitchen crew. “Linda’s” committal is also scheduled for the Columbarium adjacent to our sanctuary. As we give thanks for the precious life of our friend Linda Bailey, let us hold tight to the words of Jesus who said, “I am the resurrection and the life.”

For the balance of this weekend and the days that follow, may the Lord bless and keep you. +
